I’m a fairly die-hard Stephen King fan but will admit that even his best novels have some wonkiness to them that you just need to let go (It and The Stand especially). That said, The Dead Zone, Misery, and Christine gave me nightmares for weeks when I was a kid (in a good way), I inhaled Night Shift and The Bachman

I can’t even follow this anymore. Who is even in favor of what and what would be a reasonable outcome? It seems that nobody wants a new referendum but nobody wants Brexit with no deal but nobody wants the deals that have been put on the table?

Just get the whetstone. I took the plunge when the guy I used to use for sharpening moved away from my area and I regret not trying it out years sooner than I did. Sharpening is so much easier than I thought it would be and it’s actually quite relaxing.

Vanilla wafers? Chessmen, man! They get much soggier/softer.

Makes sense off season but it’s sacrilege to adulterate tomatoes the few weeks per year they’re in their prime (or at least until after Labor Day when we’re sick and tired of them, no matter how delicious they are).

Double decker taco? Noooooooooooooooo....

Do you disagree with the notion that influencers are scum, or just the fact that there’s another story about it?

NO...people enjoy it like that not because it’s traditional. They enjoy it because they enjoy the texture of the skin when cooked that way.

I can’t agree with this more but will caveat it with the statement that there is a difference between places that cater to the tourist crowd, and those that are straight up tourist traps.

Soft skin is a feature of Chinese poached chicken, not a bug. You theoretically could fry it separately but then it would be a completely different dish.

It looks to be a traditional ginger/scallion dipping sauce.

Preach! I grew up loving poached chicken. I don’t bother with the fancy sauces...I have mine with straight oyster sauce and a heaping pile of white rice.

I’m tempted as I’d appreciate the cargo space over my current sedan though I’m worried about the fact that Porsche historically hasn’t been the best at creature comforts, ergonomics, and usability. Not a big deal in their sports cars as those are really about the driving experience but something I actually care about

All of these crossover coupes look like cars drawn by somebody who can’t draw cars very well.

I actually think the CT6 looks really appealing though for the life of me I can’t figure out why they wouldn’t push the Blackwing as the ‘standard’ engine (a la 750i or S550) instead of offering it in a likely limited capacity.

We used to join two straws together and put them directly in the bottle. None of that uncouth swigging for us!

Unfortunately, the fact that it comes with sport cups tells me that it’s probably not the car for me nowadays (though the want is strong after a buddy got a 350R).

Given the advent of low cost funds, participants in that plan may actually have a basis to sue the company for breaching their fiduciary duty as plan provider. Since the employees depend on the company for plan design and investment options the company is obligated to provide a ‘reasonable’ slate of choices.

If you have the wherewithal to create a portfolio that will track an identified index then you don’t need to use even a passive fund. You theoretically can buy the individual index components yourself.

Why anybody invests in anything other than basic exchange traded funds is beyond me. Super low expense ratios, easy to create a reasonable risk profile, and no active manager who won’t beat the market anyway. Fees usually in the 0.3 range for an overall market/index tracker, which is pretty close to what you’d pay for
