You knew they were coming, America. The second the Patriots got busted for doctoring footballs, you knew the…
This is a testament of todays fucked up "instant journalism". First RS publishes a story without properly fact checking on behalf of the accuser "Jackie" who did not name names at first. Then they retract along with the WaPo thereby hanging the alledged rape victim out to dry, which is fubar imo. Today they, along…
My opinion is that something horrible happened to Jackie. I don't know if it was a three-hour gang rape by seven guys, as she told RS, or being forced into oral sex by a smaller number, as she originally told her friends. But she's consistently said she was raped by multiple people, she was clearly traumatized, and…
I completely agree with you. And usually, I know you're right! But when I'm reading stories like this I feel so low and powerless. And wish my kids could stay little forever. :)
No, it can be stopped. And your having a son and being disgusted by this situation and being aware of all these issues for women put you in the best possible place to effect some change.
Replying to promote.
Replying to promote. Simple, and hopefully effective.
I am your age, and I can tell you this happened. I heard the term "date rape" for the first time in the 80's and there were public education campaigns about it back then and scandalous trials and tv movies all about it. There was one right here in my town involving seven college men. There was also an attitude that…
As a parent, this (and the stories like this we see EVERY DAY) gives me anxiety. I mean it's always given me parenting anxiety to worry that my daughter may someday be a victim. But now that I have a son, I worry that he'll become a monster, and that's my greater fear. Seems like this culture can't be stopped.
Their parents/coaches/teachers/law enforcement could have put a stop to this instead of enabled it. I'm not arguing that the boys are at fault, but there are a lot of things that could have happened to save these guys - MAINLY these girls - a lot of heartache.
The adults in these boys lives have failed humanity. Fuck the little rapist shits. They all deserve anything they get.
THIS.
Yup, this was the moment my head exploded.
My mother's the same age you are - a bit older, actually, as she was getting out of college in the 80s.
When asked to name a saying he uses often, Hales responded, ''Go ahead, Call the cops, They can't un-rape you.''
If it was the 70s or 80s and this group existed, you probably would not have heard of it. Saying "I didn't see anything back when the internet wasn't a thing, and I see things on the internet now, so obviously it didn't happen before" is illogical.
If we ever needed a better example that "rape isn't about sex, it's about power" - this can be Exhibit A.
These boys have failed themselves. They're the rapists. It's not their parents fault, it's not their coaches fault, it's not their victims fault. ITS THEIR FAULT.
This is hard, it's a job, we don't do this shit for pleasure.
