No, it’s a poorly-written law. People who use those plate-obscuring covers do it so they can blast through toll tag booths and not have to pay. They’re pieces of shit. There SHOULD be a law that makes those illegal. The problem is, states usually write the laws in a bad way (SEE: New Jersey; Texas) and also, cops here

I always take the dealer frame off of the car as soon as I get it home from the dealer.  I even had a dealer continue to install new ones every time I took it in for service.

It starts out with some jerks adding smoke dark covers with retroreflectors built in to prevent detection by a casual glance or photo-enforcement. Then the legislature draws up a law against obscuring plates and the police are rewarded for BS tickets.

On the other hand I constantly see plates with tinted covers that all but completely obscure the plate. How do these people get away with it? I feel like I’d get a ticket on day one.

This is actually one of the reasons that there was a higher accident rate in 2020 IMO - pandemic had a lot more people staying home, so less traffic, and people could actually get their cars up to and beyond the usual limit. So you’ve got people who have very little experience driving a car at speed suddenly no longer

If eSports want to be like other sports there would be a players union to balance the power that owners have over players

Spoken like a future mass-shooter pretending that /pol/ isn’t an issue.

Saw a video of one just recently. The cover got torn off leaving it with the plate attached at the scene. I’ve also seen videos from rear cameras of cars getting hit where the offender backs up and then turns so the rear plate is never in view.

So the thing about Disney is that if you like that stuff there isn’t a better experience anywhere. They just utterly nailed it.  So calling it “overrated” is a bit silly.  And if you DON’T like that stuff, well, even if it’s as close to perfect as a thing that people are allowed to be involved in can be you’re not

I dunno, I kinda like having the front plate, so that I can have one of those bracket mounted bumper protectors to stop bad parallel parkers from hitting my car.

A number of incidents involving crash hit-and-run leave the front plate behind. That’s a handy feature.

I mean I hate license plates and love the fourth amendment as much as anyone but I’m not sure your car has a right to privacy on public roads...I guess you’re saying that you have the right to not be identified as the owner of the car via the license plate but that’s not any more of a privacy violation than being

It’s amazing how these sites allow one of the richest men on earth to live rent free in their heads.

"money doesn't buy happiness" well money buys everything that makes happiness possible so..........

As I have gotten older, the phrase “money doesn’t buy happiness” has steadly climbed the ranks of “dumbest shit I have ever heard”.

As for fuel economy, expect bad news. GM engineers wouldn’t disclose numbers just yet, though one engineer did say “It’s not miles per gallon, it’s smiles per gallon.” Translation: It’s not pretty. Then again, this is a three-ton-plus SUV

I wish we’d stop using this over the top language for everything. Weaponizing when all you mean to say is that one side is politically exploiting events, the way all political parties do and have done since forever... gaslighting any time anyone disagrees or pushes back on someone’s version of events...

it would be nice to see maybe one single article that articulates what NFT’s actually represent

No, you want propaganda. A reporter’s job is not to state the “benefits of NFTs.” Their job is to report the truth. And the truth of the matter is, there are no uses for NFTs that are not better handled than the way things are.

That’s because there isn’t anything they can be used for that isn’t already being done with simpler technology.
