It’s because now we all have the means to share our opinions very easily. And anonymously.

I actually think there is a difference.  We’ve normalized harassment and death threats over trivial issues, and people have access to a culture that eggs them on.  Without comment boards and the pursuit of likes, a lot of these people would still be decent. 

He’s not wrong, but I feel as though the issue isn’t that the loudest assholes forget that these are people, it’s that they’re assholes and they just don’t care.
