The letter is signed by Tom’s 2 children, their mother (Tom’s wife of many years whom he divorced later in life), AND Tom’s widow at the time of his death. Literally all of his legal family banding together to protect his integrity.  A beautiful moment created by a shitty president.

It was his big day, and he was absolutely crushed at how no one showed up to his party. He needed the ego boost, he got nothing in return.

Tom was always fiercely protective of his music. Good on the family for keeping it up.

Now playing

Fat Donny Two Scoops ends his rallies with the Stones’ You Can’t Always Get What You Want. The band has sent a cease and desist letter, but the song still plays. My guess is they are too busy being The Rolling Stones to follow-up, but Tom Petty’s family, they might just have the time and money to make sure Cheetolini

Kind of like how Ayn Rand took public assistance when she was dying.

I refuse to do an image search the verify my theory, but I don’t think we’ve ever seen him with an untied tie draped around his neck - either his tie is tied or he’s wearing a golf shirt without a tie. Even his wardrobe knows he failed.

No one ever thinks they’re part of the machine. Pol Pot, Trump, Hitler, Idi Amin, my brothers who benefited greatly from my sexist parents, Paul Ryan, Newt Gingrich....

He appears to be on his way!

My 2¢ FWIW, feel free to dismiss:

Zero sum mentality can lead to some interesting and challenging conversations. Recently I’ve seen some highly respected black voices clearly state that there must be a ‘levelling’ for lack of a better word in order for black and POC to rise, white people must understand that they have to give up some of the benefits

That zero sum mentality is honestly such a challenge. It’s how we end up with this All Lives Matter bullshit, because people are so worried that someone saying Black Lives Matter must imply that their own life matters less in that moment.

To the letter writer you could sign your friend up for lefty/progressive/pro-trans newsletters. Maybe ask her to watch videos from Contra Points or Philosophy tube. You might want to looks up street epistemology to try to find out why she is holding these beliefs. It seem to me that the friend is going through

I used to be a HUGE Gwenabee from the first album - I wrote for AOL newsletters and No Doubt was my first concert, and people in school called me No Doubt Boy - because I’d only wear ND shirts.

Then Rocksteady came out - in which they sold out their unique/co-opted ska sound for more mainstream likability- fine ok.

I think about this at least once a year. Usually it’s when I see her doing a duet with Blake Shelton.

How this woman transformed herself from cool rock chick to cheeseball TV personality is mind boggling.

Ahem...

“Ex-girlfriend” and “New” are still bangers.

I would say that honor goes go Stevie Nicks, but I'm showing my age, lol

With you on Return of Saturn being her best work, and also that she is aggressively vanilla now. Rachel Ray is an edgelord compared to this version of Gwen.
