I am biracial, Chinese and white, and very ethnically ambiguous. Many people ask me what is my ethnicity. I am 37 years old, and this question occurred far more often when I was younger probably because A) I was meeting more people, and B) I believe this question has more recently been seen as taboo.

I am not black at all, and I had a similar reaction. For her to say, “I am not black, I am biracial,” would be utterly shocking and would receive a backlash.

What grade level?  I used to be a middle/high school math teacher, and I don’t think that the situation you described seems too terribly bleak.

I think the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is now facing an existential crisis. There are few true rock acts which can justify induction. The only criterion is that the artist must have had a commercially released record 25 years ago. What true rock acts come to mind? Arcade Fire?

I had the same thought.  She and Stevie Nicks are the only 2-time female inductees.  I suppose for both of them their solo careers are a little low on bulk.

Union workers are much more comfortable saying, “This is not ok, I am not doing this, do I need to call my union representative?” Non-Union workers are much more easily pressured to just do what the boss says even after pointing out unsafe things.
