That is basically how my husband and I do our cats’ claws--with scissor-type clippers. They face out from us, on our lap, wrapped in a towel (purrito, haha), and we only take out the one paw being worked on at a time. Sometimes it takes one of us to hold the cats in place and one to clip, but that’s fine.

We did Taming of the Shrew as a dramatic read-aloud in my senior year of high school, and damn was that fun.

If you’re in certain big cities, I 1000000% recommend One Medical for a PCP. You can actually get same-day or next-day appointments, evening/weekend appointments, and they have an included app where you can video visit or text message with NPs/PAs and that will connect you with folks to prescribe meds when it’s

Claire, what do I do with creme de menthe? We ended up with two! bottles of it for Christmas and my husband hates mint, so it’s all on me if we keep it. What else is there besides putting it in hot chocolate? Do I mix with bourbon this spring for a faux-julep? Does it work for mojitos? So many questions.

Wow, a lot of hate in the responses! I’m with you on the garlic press. We rinse ours out and run it through the dishwasher (fully open) and it’s been fine for years.

AGREED! As I said above, I just got back from Orlando, having done Universal, and the parks were eerily quiet. Longest posted wait I saw was 35 minutes for Minions (which, you get free express pass for staying on property, so it was a five minute wait for me!) and most rides were 5-10 minutes posted wait time.

As a former Floridian who just spent a week in Orlando (seriously, got back Sunday):

Great call! I would also add The Proposal by Jasmine Guillory. Her debut book The Wedding Date was also fantastic.

Making Christmas happen is a lot of work, mostly for moms.

Elf on the Shelf is a fairly new thing (published in 2005!) and it was cooked up by some random people. It’s not like most of us here are anti-Santa or anti-tradition. For all of us over about 20, Elf on the Shelf wasn’t even around during our childhoods. (I’m 31 and it sounds like you’re considerably older than I am

What really interests me, as a queer person, is that many other queer people I know eat at CFA (and I do too). It seems like this is straight performative “woke” stuff. Guess what, a ton of CEOs have repugnant views. In late-stage capitalism, there aren’t many ethical choices. Someone’s getting exploited somewhere.

The ONLY positive on that one I can think of is that the kid could go by Levi?

Relatedly, I always appreciate video/story captioning not because I am hard of hearing, but because often I’m looking at my phone in public and don’t want sound blaring. Accessibility benefits everyone.

Well, I get cold in summer AC, so I will break out my parka without any shame in a Northeast winter. Sorry to offend you.

My mom has a grey/lab mix! Such sweet dogs. She looks a lot like your pup.

Correction: Virginia also is a holdout state, making Florida the 47th state. The current governor and the previous governor of Virginia were/are actively fighting this though and have restored rights to tens of thousands of people.

She’s going to learn How to Be Single when no one goes to see this movie?

We used a measuring cup for it at our friendsgiving but it got so messy! I grew up with can-shaped cranberry sauce, and then I discovered how easy it was to make my own. But I still like canned sauce...

I feel like DC has hellish weather all around. (I also live in DC!) Gray, not-snowy winters AND hot, gross summers. I mean, I have chronic depression year-round, but I find that in the depths of winter as well as the depths of summer, it’s worse. So, SAD and also reverse SAD. Lovely.
