Your first point very, very much depends on the state’s family law. Don’t count on filing separately to get out of spousal support, for example.

The advice below is sound on federal vs. private. If you have private loans, get life insurance post-haste! It’s worth the peace of mind. I refi’ed my 110k of federal loans to private and promptly bought that much life insurance on myself (plus a little extra) because my spouse makes good money, but I’m not having him

I think you would—see my comment above.

THIS, all of this. You are absolutely right. I graduated from law school almost six years ago, and though I’m not eligible for loan forgiveness because I work for a private corporation and have since I graduated, I also know how this works.

You could also post on NextDoor or your local equivalent to see if anyone local wants them to (*gasp*) make crafts out of, especially teachers/day care/etc., but also sometimes random people will take you up on it. I know that’s anathema to some people, but it’s better than tossing IMO.

I thought this article was really good—it’s clear that the majority of news anchors are making mid-five figures at best!

Maybe some Sinclair employees out there agree with the message—but the overall internal reaction was frustration and dismay. Even if local employees supported the message, the entire point of this story is that it wasn’t their call anyway.

A friend of mine who works for Interior deleted a friends-only Facebook post of mine off her wall that linked to a Hill article on Zinke’s comments on old people/disabled people being the reason that national parks were losing money. (All I said was something along the lines of “I bet Interior folks are loving this

Yeah, this is basically the worst take. Do kids get run over by the thousands in March-May or September-October? I doubt it, and am too lazy to Google it, so someone please correct me if I’m wrong. Plants don’t grow differently just because the hours read differently—it’s not like they’re getting less sun or

All of you assholes in the comments talking about how you don’t pee on your hands, so you shouldn’t have to wash them, are missing the point. This is one of the few times during the day you will be near a sink. You have touched other dirty things throughout the day—money, bus/subway poles, the office copier, your cell

Yeeeeeeeeep.

As I am seeing it, there is a really, really clear divide in these comments into:

Case by case with my husband:

Not hard to believe, see my comment below about my own story. (http://twocents.lifehacker.com/1823808091) Now, I pay my card off religiously every month, earning points and cashback, etc.—but only because I have the money to do so and to take care of my needs otherwise.

As someone who has successfully paid off over $15k in credit card debt, I can tell you that mine accrued slowly through college and law school—when the loans/work-study weren’t enough and I had to eat or buy textbooks or meds for my chronic illnesses or whatever, since my parents couldn’t afford to support me, it went

My mother-in-law made me (well, technically husband and me, but definitely me) a cookbook for a wedding present, a binder filled with all of her family and friends’ favorite recipes. As she is from southern Virginia, the end result was basically a 1970s church cookbook—with some surprisingly good recipes, actually. I

Oh my god preeeetty sure that’s in the cookbook my mother-in-law made for me for my wedding!

I’m so sorry. Microwave nachos always filled my sodium craving without making me too ill. What about ramen for sodium without sick? You can put an egg in it to soft boil for protein.

Speaking from experience:
