he's often the best thing in his movies (see: Bone Tomahawk and Say It Isn't So). That's why i'm always surprised he shows up for sub-Colm Feore roles like Absolute Power or Jack Reacher (both fine movies, but do-nothing roles).

for me, the funniest line in Step Brothers is the "it is definitely 150% YOUR FAULTS!". Richard Jenkins brings such a real 'frustrated Dad' presence to that film.

i thought that delivery (of "Shut up, Maggie") was PERFECT. i don't know why that line hit me harder than all the other ones (in an episode full of them)

i would think the Baseball player who throws greaseballs is more obscure, especially if we ever meet him out of uniform. But maybe it's because i missed that ep on first-run

i woulda sworn it was Alison Krauss singing, given the songlist and title's connection to O Brother Where Art Thou('s soundtrack)

i think they all got killed in the finale of their show, so they can't really appear?

it was delightfully subversive. Here's a great quote from the villian that sums up the film's ethos: "There's always a confused soul that thinks that *one man* can make a difference. And you have to KILL HIM to convince him otherwise. That's the *hassle* with democracy."

it is. it's secretly a remake of 7 Days in May, with Xzibit yelling about Assholes & Elbows. It's fantastic. Lee Tamahori is an underrated director.

so it's not about who led at the end of the first round? that's good to know, it'd be a shame to deny a strong-finisher the win b/c of that.

who lead at the end of the first round? Isn't that the tiebreaker? The person who would lose that tiebreaker shoulda bet $0, since they wouldn't win a tie anyway.

i know, right? And the only way i remember Richard Wright is: we had to read Native Son in HS, whereupon i thought, "The keyboard player for Pink Floyd wrote a civil rights book?"

as are most of the writers on this site.

don't forget Bad Religion's awesome album of Christmas Carols. it's fantastic

how is this not an "A"? In it's current incarnation, i can't imagine an episode getting much better. Granted, the Squad Video wasn't a "Lazy Sunday" barnburner, but it was so ambitious, it can be forgiven.

One thing we know for sure, no one is jerking it to License to Kill.

oh, i thought you meant the Dire Straits song. I'm old.

Brothers in Arms? I'm afraid i missed that reference. Are you referring to the song?

Jupiter Ascending, the "DMV" scene.
