and to think Sean Connery gets shit for, "You're the man now, dawg!"

sounds like every salesman i've ever met

this, and the subversive XXX2: State of the Union prove that Lee Tamahori isn't a complete hack (Die Another Day!). If you give him a Mamet script and good actors, or tell him to remake Seven Days in May with rappers, he'll turn out a surprisingly good film.

i've never heard of Weigh Anchor, but i know the other 2. Tho, to be fair, i only know Bolivar b/c of Jeopardy. South American history was not huge in my public-school education

NBC in St Louis. jeopardy and WOF, Ellen, and Oprah (RIP) are NBC, Regis had been CBS, now CW. Family Feud is ABC…i'm not sure about other syndicated shows.

and a game Ray Stevenson! And Milla Jovovich kicking everyone in the face!

right, but we talked about Ollie in a previous post.

Kiefer was Angry, Chris was cute, and Charlie rocked a French Beard like there was no tomorrow!

Lest we forget the song, "All for Love" - from the Three Musketeers, which was only made because Robin Hood did well. It had Bryan Adams, Sting, and Rod Stewart singing raspy harmony- and they played the video BEFORE THE MOVIE in theaters!! It was like the Overture before the 10 Commandments, except without artistic

just as Television is going more to the "miniseries" (or British) model of short, contained stories, studio films are going the Big Arcing Series model (kind of like Comic Books). The studios (DC/WB, Disney, Universal) are the networks, competing against each other with similar products.

it would be interesting to see Marvel or DC make a movie that just stands alone (kind of how they've seemingly forgotten about The Incredible Hulk). Remember how X-Files would have "non-mythology" episodes? I mean, they were "canon", but they didn't contribute to the overall conspiracy arc.

at least w/ Regal and Cinemark, you can get discounted gift cards on Cardpool & Cardcash. Those are less available for Loews and (local St Louis chain) Wherenberg (…wherenberg….wherenberg….)

i don't think it's Thanksgiving-specific, but i always loved the Billy Joel song "Great Suburban Showdown". I really identified with the sentiment, visiting my parents after having lived away for so long.

judging by the resolution on that video, that show also presaged Minecraft.

well, you could do a show that's basically "pub trivia" - with several teams playing it live in studio. The viewers at home can play via Facebook (or whatever site can sell the most ads) and all 100% Correct Cards are entered into a random drawing for $10K, or something. Like how Wheel of Fortune used to hand out

that's just it though - he's not nobility, he's a doofus. and eventually his jackassery catches up with him, so it's a tragedy (and not a comedy like the author planned).

elections like this are so rare (no incumbents), i thought 1968, but Humphrey & Agnew rule that out (i forget who Humphrey's VP was).

what, no room for Working Girl, that movie where a woman does the backstroke while a guy gives her head? (I saw that movie once when i was super young, and that's all i remember about it).

what? you couldn't find room for the Office-politics-Publishing-Game Werewolf Movie he made? What was it called, again? "The Werewolf of Madison Avenue" or something?

i believe that movie is called, "Immortals".
