I think the reason the original movie works and no sequel ever has is that Brandon Lee’s Crow was actually pretty multi-faceted. He had a dark sense of humor that was barely masking his rage, underlaid by a world weariness that gave you the strong sense that he just wanted this whole thing done with.

Every other

I read the criticism before seeing the show and came away much more impressed with Stewart than the internet. The explicit metaphor used at the end of the show was “Biden might not be the Conan we need to take on Trump’s barbarian hordes.  Ultimately, if you want the world to be a better place, get off your ass and do

The thing is, this isn’t some “could go either way” ending. The ghosts and hallucinations provide usable, verifiable information, in a way that makes natural explanations ridiculous. In this one, Annie K’s ghost calls Navarro into a narrow branch off the main cave where she falls directly into her murder site.

I shudder to think what a TV executive’s idea of a more male-skewing female-led superhero project is, but that combo of words is like a linguistic skull-and-crossbones.

Especially if they’re going to drag it out like this. If you don’t want to do it, great, but then stop bringing it up. She’s right that the romantic tension tends to be the least interesting part of the show, but while it’s one thing to have a flat storyline, it’s worse to be TEASED with something I don’t care about.

That attitude is a surefire election-loser, and that’s coming from someone who agrees that every one of those things is bad. “Everyone not already on my side is an idiot not worth talking to, none of whom are persuadable” will, as a collective stance, absolutely fuck us in November. It’s good for feeling morally

Joe Biden will be in his mid-’80's when he finishes a theoretical second term. How many other octogenarians do have running important aspects of your life? He is obviously a better choice than Trump, who would also be in his ‘80's on top of being a mendacious id monster who would cheerfully burn the country to ground

Cleese appears to be an egotistical bigot, while Idle seems like a cranky bastard who apparently has issues with every other living member of the troupe.  Shocking that this apparently made for a tense working environment.

I know the standard line is that Martin did all the good stuff and they were lost without him, but

Also, the future is generally more interesting than the past because we already know how the past came out. I’d much rather see what a Westerosi Renaissance looks like or how Essos deals with Dany upending their entire society than watch another guy get into a bunch of dragon fights that we know for sure he’s going to

My guess is, now that she’s backed by Musk money, the plan is to just keep getting headlines and drag this out until Disney figures it’d be cheaper to offer a token settlement, at which point they’ll claim victory. Judging by what she’s been up to since, her “acting” isn’t going to keep her in the public eye.

So that movie she made for the Daily Wire did as well as expected?

I don’t know if this is better or worse, but he said nice things about every president from at least Clinton on. One gets the sense that while he was very supportive of the troops in that generalized American way, he was really just trying to sell records and decided that picking the fights with the president, whoever

That’s a pretty common feature of politics. Like the Republican rush to claim Lincoln as the exemplar of their party should naturally imply that the southern states were on the wrong side of the Civil War, but it’s never quite phrased that way in rightwing circles. Climate change is finding general acceptance in a

There’s no way it’s just nerds going to see Marvel or Star Wars movies. There just aren’t that many of them. But they are heavily in the mix, since a nerd is often just someone who’s into something beyond what the average person considers normal. Given how huge it is, it’s weird that Avatar doesn’t have any.

The hate I get — that’s just what happens when you’re successful enough. You can find similar enclaves that are pissed about Marvel or Star Wars, the other heavy presences in the highest grossers, and it’s not totally crazy. It’s one thing to see a movie and be underwhelmed; it’s another thing to have that movie you

Spears and Jackson have indicated they’re not holding anything against him and would like us to please stop talking about their five second non-issue, respectively, so the pretense that we’re somehow siding with them against him is faintly dishonest. Seems like if you really give a shit, you should maybe respect their

I feel like the standard procedure for a completed movie that the studio thinks sucks is to dump it in January with minimal press (Hi, Night Swim!). Don’t get me wrong, I understand that a $120 million turd might not seem worth the matching costs in marketing that are generally used to estimate a movie’s

Yeah, I’m not sure why we’re reaching for some elaborate conspiracy theory since the actual given explanation is “we were clumsily trying to make a statement that no one got.”

I’ve always said the worst thing about Jurassic Park was all the dinosaurs.
