Your deep understanding of the story is rare, indeed. So few people really dig into it.

As I read it, she cannot bring herself to stab the prince with a dagger. That's why she passively commits suicide.
She certainly values the human state, as a soul is part of what she strives for.
She thinks she will be foam, but if course, she becomes a daughter of the air. I always hated that part.

Honestly, I think being at least ten is a pretty good idea with the originals! :)

But the originals are so much more fun!

Great, because most people have pretty skewed ideas about what the originals are about.
I think reading "Snow White" in the original makes it very plain to women that princes don't "rescue" anyone. The guy is damn near a necrophiliac.

Except that the actual texts of fairy tales often feature endings that do not involve women being rescued at all.

I hope she doesn't suicide, as the little mermaid dies in the original story.

I think that this campaign should be about how life is not a "Disney" fairy tale.

I think many of these women do hate women. Just like you said.
But I was shocked by the misogyny in some of the comments under the story about women not liking women bosses. On a site devoted to women's issues, it was depressing to see how many young women hating in women being in charge.

Yes, her sense of shame was out of proportion. I completely agree. But it was symptomatic of what was really wrong. She and her husband had been through the loss of his sister to a car accident about a year before. Her husband completely shut down. She had loved his sister and was grieving as well.

Aggressiveness is an essential characteristic in the workplace. If you find it distasteful, then you need not employ it. But I do not like to be led by a milquetoast who will not fight for his or her people. In an organization, a boss who advocates aggressively for people is revered. Also, I advocate fiercely and

My daughter is a very tough, glamorous, and very married young woman in tech. She bowls those sexist nerds down like the cheap losers they really are underneath it all.

So, he's less threatened because he lacks the ability to see your skills? Because you are a woman?

You fill me with despair. As a middle aged feminist, I just feel so sad when I read comments like yours. And I am aware that there are many.

Your honesty and willingness to examine yourself and your problems are commendable.
I wrote on another thread that I am the cousin (but really like a close aunt) to a young woman who cheated on her husband once with a married father of three. The dude was so good at working her with friendship, it was amazing.

You are pulling stats like fundamentalists pull quotes from the Book of Revelations. In both cases, a full, nuanced understanding is sorely lacking.

I know someone, a much younger cousin to whom I am a sort of aunt, who stepped out on her husband once.
One time. Yes, the other party, much older, was married.
She became suicidal with guilt. No exaggeration. After therapy, her marriage is very strong indeed. At the time all of this happened, I truly feared for her

This: Your comments manifest Detroit "urban dweller" fears. You need to check your racism meter. I strongly suspect you don't know how racist and classist your remarks are.
Also, if a woman feels very comfortable in Detroit and its environs, by herself, maybe it's not quite as you paint it.
