YES. Thank you. I am happy for her that she feels sexy at 50. But I don't get what's wrong with looking/acting her age, either. I

I think that sentiment is rad, but I also don't get what's so wrong about looking 50 when you're 50.

For sure. I do think the sound use was perfect, but I agree, he planned the confrontation beforehand. I took the change in the sound levels to mean he was ready to focus on the task at hand, and that he had to focus extra hard because of the alcohol.

Yeah, I don't really see "Looking" as a comedy at all. Any humor is incidental.

Ugh I hated the American QAF so so much. It was ridiculous in every way possible, but not in a watchable way. (Same with The L Word.)

I feel like this show is far from "Girls," aside from the fact that it's an ensemble show about a group of friends living in a big city. Tonally different, shot in different ways, dialogue pretty different — "Looking," to me, is much more understated and nuanced. (And I've watched both extensively.)

Same. I mean, I'm not a gay dude, and I love this show, but I do think straight people (especially straight men) think they won't be able to relate. (They may feel uncomfortable, due to insecurity, too.) Then again, I have some gay friends who tell me they won't watch because it's "so boring." Which I don't agree with.

But they shouldn't use it to brush their teeth! If they could get over the fact that it's a gay-centric show, they might realize it's actually really, really good! (I'm not a gay male, and I love this show!)

I think "Looking" is the best of the three. (I stopped watching "Girls" this season, and I've sort of hung around with "Togetherness" to hate watch it.)

You know what I forgot for awhile? Patrick lied to Richie when they first met — something about being a doctor, right? I really like Richie and Patrick together, but Richie should see all the red flags now, even if Patrick and Kevin break up and there's a chance for Patrick and Richie to reconcile.

Yeah, my dad's boss at the pretty big company he works for was a total D-bag (lots of sexual harassment stuff, totally obnoxious behavior, etc.), and he got away with stuff for years. He was in his 60s and dating a 20-year-old intern.

Right? IT STILL HURTS.

THIS. It's not the kind of show that's easily represented by a tagline. It's more about the way everything's crafted, down to small details. Cinematography, script, performances… Some of the looks between the characters are devastating!

It's a different tone, though. I don't see what's wrong with the cinematography on "Looking." If anything, I find the cinematography on "Looking" to be a lot more interesting/different than what's shown on other programs. A lot more deliberate.

If anything, HBO marketed this show incorrectly. It's not supposed to be like "Girls" (which I appreciate). I liked the first few seasons of "Girls," but find it to be taxing/more uneven than "Looking."

I think the author means on TV/in the media… not in everyday life.

Totally calling Patrick out for refusing to bottom, yes? Eep.

Meh… he was wasted and probably wondering a bit how Richie was feeling seeing Patrick again. Kind of a recipe for disaster. Kevin was so dumb to propose that double date (though of course it was on purpose).

Someone posted a link to a petition on the ep thread, too. Not sure how useful those things are, but…

Same. I think it's pretty surprising. (Then again, I can't afford to pay for HBO unless it's offered a la carte someday soon, so I have to make due with watching at a friend's house, thus I am not added to the viewership count.)
