To further answer the question, whether there are laws “on the books” or not, my point is they clearly don’t have the ability.

Re: #2. You know all those people who work for the Federal Government and who have some level of security clearance? Now that the Chinese have hacked the department that stores all that info, ask them if they think they government will be taking appropriate steps to ensure your medical information is secure.

My dad had a friend with a chevy van.  It was lifted (not immensely) and 4 wheel drive.  It had shag carpet throughout and a bed in the back.  My 15 year old self wanted it soooo baaaaddddd.

So if someone’s immune and gets back out into the world, can they then pick it up (but not get infected) and bring it home and/or to everywhere else they go?

I was thinking along these lines:

Along these lines, I’ve been seeing people walking around with gloves on.  I assume they think this is somehow protecting them.  But then they’re touching their glasses,  keys, door knobs, etc.  Basically everything they’d be touching without the gloves.  But, because they have gloves on, I assume they think they’re

It’s capped at 40Mbps but as a WFH person, I don’t really upload much so I haven’t seen it as a problem

I work from home (for more than a decade now) so as soon as I could get it, I upgraded.  Plus, it’s one of those bundle savings things with Comcast.  For two years, I’m paying less than if I had left things alone and stuck with slower speeds.  In a couple years, I’ll revisit if I need it, what bundles are available,

That’s awesome!! :)

Do what now? :)

most pizza that I’m aware of (in the US anyway) has a base of tomato sauce, which is “juicy”.

Update for Old Fourth Distillery (Atlanta), from their website:

It hasn’t been quite that bad for us, but VPN performance has definitely been the most noticeable impact. Lots of crappy skype/teams/slack audio problems and we got a request to minimize the use of video in meetings.

Don’t confuse the poor guy with facts, it doesn’t help.

Exactly!  I don’t get the point of this (except that most people are stupid).  Also, presumably, you washed your hands before you started eating with them?

ok, probably a good reason for you to not pay for one. :)

For me, it probably boils down to being a bit of a privacy curmudgeon.  I don’t like that Comcast is keeping track of everything I do, all the sites I visit, when, how often, etc.  No, I don’t have anything to hide, but protecting my privacy is different than hiding something.

Now playing

For anyone who hasn’t seen it, I recommend watching Destin’s (smarter every day) series on how the tech companies are dealing with these kinds of things. This isn’t acceptable, but it’s good to get balance on issues like this to help come up with a viable solution vs just railing at whatever company happens to have

You might check some of the “arguments against” in this wikipedia entry on the concept:

Plus, once someone hacks the biometric system, it’s not like you can change your face/fingerprint/back of hand/etc. that’s used as an authenticator.
