I’m sure all the commenters here will support her, but if she doesn’t grasp that making overly simplistic and if directed at any other group clearly offensive statements are part of the problem, maybe she’s not really helping.

Slavery has existed in almost every society on the planet at some point or another. It actually still exists in the Sahel, with nary a white person within 1000 miles. Care to explain?

Actually, since I’ve been fighting off a fair few trolls on here, I guess I should reword to say I’m not surprised by people’s ability to self-delude.

So if say the same was said about black people you wouldn’t be wishing for BU to fire her? Bullshit.

Well she sounds like she doesn’t grasp that her inflammatory tweets might be inflammatory, so I’m sure she will be lauded here.

There was no question to be answered in the previous reply.

I didn’t say anything about a boycott and don’t appreciate you suggesting I did. If you want to have a discussion don’t do that.

Actually my point is that you seem to absolve yourself by your tip and I don’t believe it does. That’s it.

There are nerves in the cuticle, and it’s a vector for infection. Then again you probably also enjoy foot binding and 12” heels?

Did I say boycott anywhere?

Am I serious that something that creates the potential for a vicious and sometimes life-threatening infection, especially for other people who may be immuno-suppressed is a bad thing? Yes, yes I am.

The Gays are all about their dogs in their weddings. Oy.

Remember, there’s a reason there’s a saying called “herding cats”.

How does the old saying go “You buy cheap, you buy twice”?

Yep, you seem to think you’re owed a manicure at rock bottom prices and I seem to think it’s a luxury and you could do a little legwork to determine if the place you’re going isn’t trafficking in people.

Generally I’d assume the proprietor is probably doing the best, as such services usually work that way.

In DC it’s illegal to cut the cuticles, in part due to MRSA and other infections. I know you don’t cut cuticles on dogs and its considered cruel so why would you do it to humans?

You are correct, they do not have to take a class. It’s something you learn when you go shopping for anything I’d think. That said, maybe people prefer not to think about it.

I’ve been hammered by someone who thinks it’s a god given right in times past to have your nails done regularly and cheaply whereas I see it more as of a luxury. It’s something nice you can have done, but the cost, well that’s a little off-putting for me personally.

Ooh schoolin! Well hate to break it to you but I’ve lived in much the same, but tack on Asia and the Middle East for good measure, so I’m very, very familiar with actual human trafficking and its impacts on people.
