Well, as Straightsix said above, they cost little to the manufacturer but jack the price of the tv up a considerable amount. I don't need wifi, I have a PS3 and people got along without wifi in their tv's or years. I want to be able to build my tv and pick and choose what I want it to include.

How come it took them this long to realize this? I would much rather spend my money on a tv with great picture quality than have 3D or internet on it. In fact, I don't want those things but it seems like they will be a given in a lot of the tvs to come. I hope some manufacturer decides to sell its best panel sans wifi…
