It’s an Ecoboost engine. You get eco, or boost. Rarely both. Turbos are really just power makers and test beaters. When you tax them, turbos tend to be worse than their naturally aspirated alternatives when it comes to fuel economy.

It’s worth noting that the 18 MPG highway Fuel Economy rating for the truck applies to “regular gasoline,” and the owner’s manual says 87 Octane is just fine.
