Yes! I was just thinking about this the other day. Elementary school/Jr high was all about spiral perms even though most of us always turned out like Bozo the Clown. This girl’s hair looks like it could be put into a high ponytail easily. WTF is the point in splitting hairs (no pun) about the texture of her hair once

True story - my mom and grandma have curly hair. My grandma had always gotten shit at jobs for her hair. When she finally got a union job, she wore a straight wig for her entire probationary period (a few months?) ad then the day after her probation was up, she wore her real hair to work and they couldn't say a damn

It’s straight up insanity. Kid Electron’s classmate started up with an all-star cheer program, and her mom’s been putting pressure on me to sign up Kid as well. It would cost more per month than her school tuition, and that’s not including the mandatory practice uniforms, two performance uniforms and assorted poms

Cuckoo bananas is the perfect description for it.

I saw that. Cheerleading can be very dangerous.

I’m so tired of my curly hair not being “nice” or “professional” enough. It’s so ridiculous that curly hair has some kind of weird value attached to it.

Seriously! I broke my hand in two places doing this “not a sport”

Have you seen the Penn and Teller’s Bullshit episode about cheerleading? It's fascinating and everyone should watch it right now. They discuss not only it's status as a sport, injuries (including interviewing a girl aho was paralyzed from cheerleading) and the bizzarre corporate conspiracy that owns everything from

Reading the article, the guy is an asshole. He was willing to compromise for her only needing to have straight hair for 4 hours at each competition. That is a whole night of work for her and would ruin her hair. That isn’t a compromise, ass.

ELEVEN.

As a fellow curlyhead...

It’s important to remember that immediately after Basic Instinct Stone was literally the biggest female movie star in the world. No one talked about it as a Michael Douglas movie. And that movie made bank. She was on the cover of every magazine and photographers followed her everywhere.

The surest indicator that Christians are not, in fact, a persecuted group in America? That they’re able to spend their days complaining about shit like this instead of running for their lives.

I have no mixed feelings whatsoever. The disparity in pay between lead actors and lead actresses is huge. Huge. It is unfair. These women have every right to advocate for equitable compensation. The lowest paid actor on Forbes’ top 20 list (Matt Damon $25 million) would be third on the actresses’ list. Third. This

I totally see your point about how its off-putting to have people complain about equal pay when the difference is getting paid $5 million instead of $10 million per movie or whatever, but unfortunately they are much better placed to speak out about this than many other women for a few reasons. Salaries in Hollywood

MISANDRY:

I feel pretty confident that it was. So sad.

I think if you’re socially isolated, both in real life and online (if you’re not on Facebook, etc.), it can be difficult to get people to donate, just because people don’t know you’re out there and in need. I’m wondering if that was the case with this woman?

:( If I had to guess- and clearly there’s no way of knowing at this point -I would say this woman blew up from stress. Terribly sad in every way.

How terrible to be so desperate. It’s so sobering to think of the position she was placed in. My thoughts are with those close to the family..
