I don't think it is actually a 'critical apparatus' or anything like it. People are just cynical, have short attention spans and are spoiled. The internet culture around TV shows just sharpens that.

I don't think you need to go into any in depth formal critique of the reviewer or the review/critiquing process in general. In this case It's more simplistic. After a while the AV Club reviewers (consciously or subconsciously) tend to skew their reviews towards the lowest common denominator of commenters. The…
it was absolutely epic and it completely undermined all the masculine gravitas the Rick character had been building which makes me question: was it poor writing or are they trying to subtly undermine Rick all this season? I guess we'll find out in due course.
A lot of people who don't obsessively follow spoilers/outside t he show stuff were kept in suspense. It was only for the obsessive spoiler people that it proved a fakeout cos right after it happened there were literally thousands of people to do the whole 'he's listed in IMDB/some [insert trade magazine name]…
Exactly, it was supposed to hit home for the audience the sheer sense of dread that would weigh you down everyday in a world with zombies. I have to say it worked for me anyway and I don't particularly care about any of the individual characters.
“The only thing that prevents you from becoming a monster is killing''. - Carol admitting she has gone full psychopath was a nice touch.
I'm not really going to get into this other than to say: it's Heroes. But there's nothing in this show to say that time is closed like that and, again, Heroes… they are always messing with timelines and always talking about fate, destiny yada yada. If you're still here at this stage you should know the drill already.
There's alot of criticism that you can throw at Heroes, everybody knows this. However, they didn't 'make Quentin evil' and are now 'trying to undo it'. Quentin is the butterfly that Noah stepped on when he fucked up the timeline. So quentin was genuinely good all along. Then Noah messed everything up and the changed…
I get what you are saying but I don't think its quite accurate. S2 was bad and there is no real defending it but S1 was not without its own problems. S2 got compared to the hype rather than the reality of S1 which meant it was never ever going to live up to the expectations but then it tanked real bad anyway.
'it's like blue balls of the heart', you just can't defend that shit. But as good as S1 was it wasn't without its problems. S2 was a clear drop in quality but I think most people never compared it to the reality of S1 with all its warts so much as the hype of S1 and that's what's caused a lot of the polarisation.
I'm more on the side of pizzolatto than not but S1 might just have been a perfect storm kind of deal.
For most of the people who comment here watching the actual show is secondary to the need to chirp about ''plotholes ftw''.
I honestly (and I cannot underline this enough) could not give a flying fuck about what you hope for. You are flat out wrong here. You claimed if Daryl just explained himself everything would be ok. I pointed out he did explain himself. You then try to say it was all manufactured. Well, I hate to tell you, but the…
1) don't hire A listers looking to prove themselves as 'serious actors'. get some good actors who fit the characters created.
2) set it somewhere thats not so overdone that renders it automatically a cliche. preferably somewhere odd, out of the way and atmospheric.
3) return to the philosophizing of S1. but explore a…
Yes I know it's verging on the ridiculous. Another guy somewhere around here is seriously trying to argue that there was a huge plothole cos Daryl didn't just tell his captors he wasn't part of the group they thought he was with. You know the first thing he said to them was that he wasn't part of the group and got…
Everything you claimed didn't happen, happened. What happened Daryl is as much ''manufactured drama'' as, you know, adding zombies to the show or something. what a stupid, stupid complaint you have. You do realise, right, that the whole show is ''manufactured drama'' going by your standards?
they're only ''always'' going to war if you read the comics already and know what the plots are for the next 5 seasons or whatever. They still don't know they are going to war and they always know there are other people out there, isn't this the very reason Daryl and Aaron go out for looking for others.
Sasha even says it this episode 'whats the best way to find a tracker? let him find you' then she very deliberately steps into a very muddy puddle so she can she boot prints. They spoonfed this to people.
Well you are someone who didn't pay attention to the show, then complained they didn't put something into the show that they clearly did. Then you came here to point out your 'plotholes ftw' and got called on the stupidity of it.
they don't know they are going to war.
