win butler, britt daniel, glaring omissions - and if walkmen were still around hamilton should be at the top of this list
I can’t remember the last time the internet actually deserved a “Great Job”, but this properly does. But primarily:
I gained a new appreciation of Tatum from his role in Hail Caesar.
His truck was red, but his pants were brown.
Super disappointed that wasn’t a red ‘95 Dodge Ram.
That’s the exact OPPOSITE of what we do here in LA. There’s an understanding that up to 3 cars take the unprotected left as the light changes from yellow to red to keep the traffic moving. Oncoming traffic (unless they’re new to LA) knows to wait until they clear, even if their light is green.
Since I moved to the area a few years ago, I’m staggered by the number of people that will graciously give you nanoseconds before laying on the horn if you don’t do this.
This staggered me my first time driving in Pittsburgh. People got mad at for NOT doing it.
My hot take on the Spruce Goose is it would have been a reasonably successful, although maybe not practical, design if turboprops had existed. So many ambitious airplane designs from that era ended up massively underpowered. The engine tech at the time just wasn’t up to it.
Other than that lashing out in the David & Jason goodbye post, I thought you did a good job. Journalism is in a tough spot right now and I can see why you made the move to something new. Good luck in your future endeavors.
Tempting. To make it even worse, I know the manager of the theatre and could probably even get comp tix.
I was at a fairgrounds show for that tour. Also caught him at open air theater over at the college. My son adored it. Although the fairgrounds show was around 3 hours of standing my legs were shot by the end of it.
Ten years from now he’ll be more honest about Al.
My wife and I both had TDI Sportwagens (hers DSG, mine a manual) until VW bought them back for more than we paid for them. I do miss that car though; it was the perfect size and had great fuel economy.
All joking aside, the only people I know that have experience with old british stuff are all of the age where tomorrow isn’t a guarantee. These things are going to be harder and harder to keep running unless you can do it all yourself.
Every time I have to figure out wiring on anything around 1990 or older, pulling the harness and starting over is almost always the preferred solution.
Per the seller, the previous owner stopped working on the car when “a friend and British car mechanic that was helping him with the electrical and carb set up passed away unexpectedly.”
