Pretty good thoughts, although I disagree with painting the skirts and bumpers the same color as the rest.

I always found the 575 much more attractive than the 550. The 575's grille specially, is what does it for me.
GODDAMN did that Smart make me laugh!
To be honest what bothers me most about it is how it screws with the grille proportions, by pushing the license plate the tiniest bit up, and busying everything up.
To be honest I was expecting something a lot worse. For the category it's inserted in, it's actually very attractive.
Okay, I'm going to give you two Lancias. From the '00s. Don't look at me that way.
It's interesting to see that Mercedes mostly always nailed their back ends on their sedans and couldn't make a hatchback's...back look good.
I thought I'd be giving a much longer thought than I did.
The best license plates ever.
It's fast and it looks great (if you put a bit of work into it).
OH DAMN WHERE IS THE DELETE BUTTON I GOT CARRIED AWAY

The car is gorgeous, yes it is. But that rear end really doesn't look like a Mercedes.
At first I was wtf'ing like you at the front end, but I'm starting to think it's because of the expectations. I mean, all Audi's have mostly the same front-end design (even the new Quattro). This breaks the line, so it needs to grow a bit.
The overall form/idea is good, but the detailing and just blatant exaggeration of the rear flares and side creases completely annihilates all the good bits.
Goddamn, Toyota just can't get hatchbacks rear ends right. Yaris, Auris, Verso. Hideous.
That said, a 420hp, 4wd Yaris can only be a great idea from the few remaining drunk-able engineers at Toyota.
I think a harsher story title would go a long way on setting the tone for the rest of the story.
I'm a bit ambivalent with this one. On one side, it doesn't suffer from what most new cars suffer that is way too many lines. And it does look a bit boxy, which on this case is very much a good thing. And it is indeed gorgeous.
