Wild Planet is totally under-rated. Private Idaho is an all-time classic and Dirty Back Road is one of the best songs about anal sex (at least I enjoy it more if I interpret it that way).

He doesn't write though, and a quick glance at IMDB shows that the writing team behind this has basically trafficked in shlock their whole career, so I guess we'll see if they just haven't had the chance to write something good yet or how much directing can compensate for mediocre writing.
