I don’t even get this. Besides the fact that I paid the money and I’m damn well not gonna give that up, how can you find the motor ability to leave midway through a movie that barely lets you breathe?

Not quite the right term, in retrospect, since some people use “visceral horror” to refer to body horror tropes. It is more that this is actually horrifying, and the “horror” audience by and large doesn’t want that.

The one time I remember scream laughing at a movie, it was the “I Love Mallory” sitcom from “Natural Born Killers.”

As I explained to my companions on the way out of the film, there is a disconnect between the visceral horror of Mother! and the expectations of the “horror” film audience which will render it relatively unpopular.

Just got done seeing it and I honest to god feel like Aranofsky was legit trying to alienate people with this. It’s like 90 minutes of an off-putting Brechtian chamber drama followed by some of the craziest shit you’ll see in a mainstream film. Who the hell was this weird ass movie for?

I loved LiS; I’m apprehensive about getting this because Ashly = Chloe, Chloe = Ashly. How closely does the new voice actress sound like Ashly? 

It probably went down like “hey, did this dude call me a man?” Looked at the InfoWars mike and thought “oh hey, he’s a fucking idiot!” to saying “Your’re a fucking idiot” to thinking “I’d really love to shoot the camera the bird so this idiot knows I’m not fucking around”.

I wondered that too. I did it some when I was younger and character generation was a novelty. Since about Neverwinter Nights or the original Mass Effect, I’ve intentionally designed women and people of various skin tones and physical features. I like the idea of roleplaying being something that goes beyond playing me…
