I was trying to be optimistic. But some people actually buy these things for work, so maybe it's a series of fleet purchases driving up the sales?

Like you I've had my issues with the design, but this video, along with this shot of it getting dirty and what was probably the same Dubai press session are really turning me around to it.
maybe there's a segment of intelligent people out there who realize that better economy while hauling is where the real cost savings are. Going out on a limb, i'm going to suggest that's probably people who actually make use of the bed regularly.
I'd love to see a NA version. They could dump the weird ass intercoolers for a start. I'm sure the turbocharging cost the program a good 300-400lbs. Why not see what you could do with the platform? We all know what it looks like by now, they could finally do something with the non-structural bodywork.
They did, after a fashion. The Hermés edition. So it doesn't feature any horses as such, but the brand is all about horse things, because rich people i guess. Maybe a Polo by Ralph Lauren edition? Because nouveau riche?
love this! just drop the chromed running boards. Black roof scoops?
Fortunately it improves on all the transgressions of its predecessors. It's like the finally learned where and when to cut. The P1 looks like it's got a bad lip job and a scar, and the 12c looks like a F360 with grillz.
oh my gawd! that's, like, uh, sexual
by way of example:
we can both agree that the mp4-12c has a diffuser, i can grant you that it has some effect, but if you were correct that any deviation from the aerodynamic optimum was 'practicality and regulation' related and not styling related it would not look the way it does. We can dismiss the…
Those engineers are responsible for the very basic shape, the same reason it has the profile of an F430. But they didn't need to be there for that job, all that heavy lifting has been done. Their real job is verifying and adjusting all the details and design cues to mitigate any negative influence they might have.
If…
Christ almighty!
You clearly have no idea how much of a car is commercial design decisions.
I'm not sure where to start in opening your eyes if you won't at least check out the website i mentioned. But i'll say this, take everything a company spokesman says with a grain of salt.
404 Coupé Diesel
NO question!
Hell it's probably too small to successfully do it on your own in there.
by 10 inches no less
koolaid much?
The way it looks is not defined by aerodynamics, that's marketing speak.
If you truly beleive it you have much to learn about aero.

Oh sure the influence of the wind tunnel is significant, but all of its character, the oddball idiosyncrasies that make it look like a McLaren…
Certainly doesn't need to be that heavy. Ditch the excesses of the collapsible roof and it should be plenty lighter than that. I won't buy a car over 2000lb unless i can haul furniture or lumber in it, not if it's supposed to be a sports car!
Sound terrible? Even pretending all your other points were valid you still lose the argument on this point.
I think it handles the P1's front end treatment better than the 'original' (thank goodness, that was horrible) and makes the MP4-12c notes a little sportier. I think therefore it does a good job of building a McLaren road car design language into something that is less of an abstract concept and more of a bankable…
For less than the price of a cup of coffee per day, you too can help a video see a brighter future.
i'm with you. Knowing people and having handled a few of these J1772 plugs the failure rate is certain to make the news soon. But there's something else. Those spring loaded retractable cables in vacuum cleaners are incredibly shitty. I don't know about you, but i find that to be the worst part of the damn thing. So…
I remember that as a Honda. Mazda hey? thanks for the refresh.
