I know this for sure, my initial thought years ago when I heard SyFy had gotten the airing rights for The Expanse (over other interested parties which included HBO) has come back with a vengeance, and my distaste for SyFy will now never die.

Seriously, get in on this. As a longtime AVClubber who’s read a ton of film and TV criticism here and appreciated pretty much all of it, I can tell you guys that this show is definitely worth watching. Zack’s reviews are great, too.

The cynic in me will point out that feature narrative filmmaking is a very different beast from a music video. Murai’s visual flair won’t likely be dimmed, but being able to create relatable characters and a compelling storyline are skills that are essentially unrelated to the visual parts of filmmaking.
