First gen, from the outside, the only difference between Mazda 3 and the MS3 is the very, very slightly larger and functional spoiler, wheels and the badging. That’s why I love my MS3.

They’ve started posting reader boards that say “4x4 with traction tires or chains required” (it’s ambiguous, but I’ve been told it means 4x4 with traction tires, full stop. Otherwise…

The DOTs (at least on the west coast) are not helping this matter. When driving to the mountain, they now require AWD/4WD with traction tires OR chains. I.e. you can’t drive anything that’s FWD or RWD without chains, even if you’re running studs or blizzaks. So everybody runs out and buys an AWD CUV, slaps all-weather…

Yep. Even at $1/day for electricity, that’s an extra $30/month. Not to mention the fact that unless you have a dedicated, 30A 240V circuit, it takes 7 hours to trickle charge off a standard 120V household plug AND you’d need either a driveway with extension cord or a garage (a luxury a lot of Europeans don’t have).

It’s because they’re company cars. Companies also provide gas cards. Company gas = free. Private electricity = money. Why bother ever plugging it in?
