if you read the comments on my post, I stated repeatedly that I wrote this story 7 years ago, when the term "retard" was not considered as taboo as it is today. Back then I'd call my friends "gay" and it was meant lovingly, now there's all this politically-correct stuff attached to it. I also explained in the

Wow. 26? You do realize that when you die, it's over right?

yes I know, that's the irony: like I'm supposed to be "doing myself proud" after publicly explaining that I went out seeking sex with a stranger, failed miserably at both the sex and the oral sex, and bled all over everything?

oh and regarding the terminology I don't even know anymore! maybe they were grommets but it was explained to me that whole spawning on the beach/surfing the waves thing was the reason for the name so i guess it was grunion. i mean, i'm 40 years old... that was 26 years ago...

Free Bird!!! That is so great! I am so happy for you that whenever you hear that song you must just feel amazing.

"but actually most church organisations have women in leadership." wtf are you smoking?

Okay so I'm not totally making shit up - yeah I hung out with skater kids mostly in those days, so it makes sense why I mixed the term to grommets now. Thanks for saying that! When Jez asked for submissions I didn't even read the rules or anything, I just remembered I wrote this in '06 and I'd saved all my myspace

I wish I could edit it so that it says "grunions" not "grommets" as that is the correct term of their clique :)

but you didn't even *read* the book!

Right there with you. I've bought W&P twice in my life, began it and just couldn't finish it. I loved Anna Karenina and I want to read W&P... I do... but, I could read like 10 books in it's stead

best comment here :)

I don't understand this at all, why would you not read them?

it's not obnoxious, I think it's really sad that people don't read anymore.

What the hell with this comment and those agreeing? Jane Eyre is brilliantly written, and you should never compare a book to a film. Try reading it before judging it. It's incredible. As well as The Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean Rhys, which is about the life of his first wife prior to her captivity.

it's all happening, hater. it's all happening.

So why don't you?

Wait, you're comparing Swann's Way to Ayn Rand? Swann's Way is absolutely lovely and brilliant, and Ayn Rand's grave should be dug up so I can piss on her corpse.

I do not have beliefs, so how can anyone share them?

No, a fundamentalist is someone who HAS beliefs and insists everyone else share them. I believe in no faeries, unicorns, Santa Claus, Easter Bunny or gods and I respect people who live in reality as well. There's a huge difference, and I absolutely do not believe in tolerating people who believe and impose sexist

oh my god yawn. it is hardly a straw man argument to say that the bible and all christian religions view women as second to men, as less than man, as to virtually exist to obey their husbands. and so it completely fucking follows that they'd prefer women to shut up and look pretty LIKE THE BIBLE FUCKING SAYS, which
