I felt that was what happened to Laila McQueen in the Bitch Perfect number - she was given a character that was specifically stated as a "poor imitation" of Derek's character, so how could she possibly stand out in that role? It was like a poisoned chalice, as there was no way to shine doing that.

It's visible in lots of episodes - especially any where they have an audience (comedy, singing etc.). It's also why the contestants always turn slightly to their right when they speak to the judges.

The judges table isn't directly in front of the runway the way it looks on tv - it's off at an angle (left on screen, right on stage) so they can still see whoever is up stage.

Would be amazing to see that (justice for Laila McQueen and April Carrion!). Especially as so many queens step their pussy UP after their outing on the show, their drag tends to be exponentially better - even if only because of increased funds available.
