I find it funny you don’t know that prominent means “important or famous”
Although in this case the the developers aren’t even saying they were inspired by it. Which seems plausible as the mod makes use of a number of standard sci-fi/mystery tropes that could very easily have coincidentally shown up twice. (Or more than twice, since some of them are in the original game.)
I feel like there’s at least 3 Doctor Who stories with this premise as well.

I’m pretty sure there was also a crazy artist robot in Starship Titanic...as well as a flirty robot...and a human-robot interface was central to the plot as well...and a robotics expert...and it was in a posh setting (cruise ship)

I enjoyed this quest, but the basic premise was your stereotypical murder mystery with a twist. I’m not surprised there are similarities.
