I wouldn’t hate on Monopoly for that. There is (was?) a company called USAopoly(maybe?) that was doing that “every city in the world” thing, but they were doing it in such a way that were coming close to, but avoiding Monopoly trade dress... So they weren’t paying any licensing fees or anything to Hasbro. So either

Netherrealms puts out a new fighting game every 2 years, and they have over 250 people working for them. The Madden series of football games apparently has a team of 150 people to update the game every year.

Even without Covid or writers strikes, movies move their schedules around all the time. I don't think there's anything unique about this.

(disregarding the books from which they come from, since I never read the books), I find the first Hunger Games movie to be a very good throwback to early 70's scifi, in that there are some long sequences without music, and there are actual interesting themes being discussed beyond just “kids fighting to the death”. It seems like one can report on comments an artist makes while also simultaneously talk about works they have produced throughout the years independently of those comments.

The problem with this is that the current company making the TCG doesn’t really understand game balance. Unlike Magic, which balances out powerful cards with high casting costs ( or self damaging, or whatever), the current gameplay of Pokemon is based on “the most powerful cards are the most rare”. For the most part, there is almost no reason to pay to use BIG NAME TALENT(tm) in animated movies at this point. For the most part it’s just throwing away millions of dollars that could be spent on animators or traditional voice over actors.

I’d argue that most consoles are pretty much “nothing sequels” at this point, though. The top selling lists for consoles for any given month is just filled with “Madden X”, “Mortal Kombat Y”, “Call of Duty Z”, and “fortnight”.

“The rise and fall of Jabba”?

That’s kind of why I said it was a kids show... It moves stuff along for cool light saber battles ... And I guess one can enjoy it for that. But if you try to think about the things that happened with just in information provided, it loses a lot of logic.

Well, everytime I bring up something about this show in the comment on io9 I get a LOT of “well, you’d known this if you watched the animated series” kind of responses. Which the original author here commented on quite a bit.

Well, Apple did wait to put in a temperature sensor until they perfected it.

Orrrr use that bank of TIE fighters that have been laying around for years.

“we’ve destroyed their only means to fly, so they are sitting ducks, it’s time to finish them.... With a ground assault.”

I thought that House with a Clock In It’s Walls was pretty good.

I always found the Claremont books interesting because there were so many female characters running around ( New Mutants for the most part always heavily skewed female), whereas Justice League and Avengers were always dudebro groups with a token female ( and even original flavor X-Men was kind of like that). I think that they kind of covered that a little bit in the second Fantastic Beasts movie, didn’t they?

I assume it’s multiverse shenanigans, or some kind of House of M event that winds up creating a bunch of mutants all at once. Or both.

uh, Sunspot, a Brazilian character, was played by a Brazilian actor. If that’s what you are talking about.
