I see that now, I misinterpreted the “requires” part. The way it made sense to me was if Nike pulls out as a sponsor another sponsor can step in and fill that slot. If a Blizzard game was an event, and they pulled out as a sponsor the event itself could no longer exist for that particular game.

I could have sworn they did specifically get a monopoly for particular sports as sponsors. Like if an event has sponsored Nike shoes, you as a participant don’t have a choice, you are required to wear the sponsor or not compete. Olympic uniforms are all supplied by a sponsor of some sort. The athletes don’t hand stitch their own clothes and shoes for the games, they are all provided by advertisers and sponsors. Same with the equipment and balls being used.
