EVERY time I go to México, I read of some knucklehead shooting at random people, into crowds, cops, etc. within a few blocks of my apartment in the “safe” part of the city. While in México, the worst I’ve seen is cops chasing drunk drivers.

On the other hand, if no private entity is willing to chip in, it’s likely shorty idea/plan that will be a waste of taxpayer funds (likely an indirect way to payoff some campaign contributors). In that case it would be better to use it on university research labs.

Is there any requirements with these govt loan programs that for every $1 in govt money received, there should be some multiple of private funds invested as well? That way there has been some vetting of their business plan by multiple parties.
