Automated car wash does that to the front plate. Most people just give up fixing them every time or if they are smart they install a cheap frame to keep the plate stay in place

The other thing is automatic car washes. The spinning brushes sometimes catches the edge and bends the plate. Then the owner bends it back into place but it will never be straight again.
