The Russians really are into spam in a big way, mainly bot nets. China and Brazil are bad too, but they focus on hosting.

They're looking for the kind of control that isn't attainable. People are innocent until proven guilty, and places like Rapidshare or ISP's simply have no interest spending manpower on patrolling for violations, or giving customer information away.

Amazing, this is someone who just never thought they'd get caught. Go to a coin show and buy expensive collectible coins for cash. At least then you have something that won't vaporize in a house fire, and can be sold fairly easily if you get the right coins.

If it's heat, one of the best things is to get three 120mm fans. Place one on the back open hole left unoccupied on many cases. Take the case cover off and drill mounting holes and lots more holes for airflow.

It's going to be ok, we'll just fill birthday balloons with hydrogen instead. What could possibly go wrong at a birthday party with candles on a cake, surrounded by hydrogen filled balloons?

It's been a wild ride they did, but I hope the movie isn't some self indulgent piece of crap.

I don't see how this addressees the issue of how to obtain space nachos during such a mission. Also there seems to be no protection from Space Banditos offered.

A rifle works of course, but there's more elegant ways to do it. Bolt cutters make almost no noise, and also spraying freon and smashing it with a hammer when the steel gets brittle is another alternative. That's how many thieves defeat the Club.

This is a great post, Brian nailed it because with a timeline you can really get your head around how it happened, especially to those who didn't really "live through it" aware of what was going on at the time.

@stpierreluke: That was one of the locations in the screenshot for the story. One being held in Land O Lakes at the Sonic there.

@ChaosCon: Yeah that's true, some things like URL's or email addresses are very awkward to give out, but to have an actual conversation with 10 exchanges when you could just call them hands free to get it over with? Um yeah...not while driving.

13 MBS on a 20 MBS connection. Not happy, but not a total disaster. I think if you do a lot of torrent downloading from multiple sources then you can do ok. Direct downloads from one source (provided they have the bandwidth to give) is probably a lost cause and marketing hype.

They're probably paying the plant managers bonuses based on production. It's why I think they're so rough on employees. Also, this rally was probably conducted on compulsory, uncompensated overtime...

@learniiburn: The only conventional drives that compare were when I was running dual 15,000 RPM Ultra SCSI-320 drives in a RAID-0 pair.

Well, we've had VCR's for years but they were usually such a pain to program... I don't even watch live TV anymore unless it's news or weather.

I don't get texting at all. If you have a phone in your hand already, why start typing a slow short message when you can just call them on the phone? Leave a voicemail instead of hunt and pecking through a message on a tiny screen.

This is an option for a few people, but it won't empty the prisons for sure. Sometimes there's a lot of circumstances to a case, but things like mandatory sentencing guidelines leave a judge's hands tied.

Wait a minute, I'm from New York. The East River is somehow safe to swim in now? I've been living in Florida for years. When did this happen?

I've spoken with a lot of people, and the elderly by far care or know the least about the Internet. They weren't brought up with it, so they're really behind.
