I just really loved how eerie the first Mercs was. You could still do crazy stunts like run up the barrel of a tank, but the tone was certainly not Just Cause level crazy. The game actually FELT like you were behind enemy lines. The same dev team at Pandemic that made the first Mercs didn’t make the second one (which…
I’m pretty sure it doesn’t age well from the original Xbox, but the first Mercenaries makes my top ten all-time video games list. It actually DID age well during the 360 days, as it was the only previous gen game I went back to play. Mercs 2 kinda plays more like Just Cause.
Happy to see an Xbox original in Games with Gold. (Pretty underwhelmed with the XB1 offering.)
I have yet to see anyone take note of the man raised by wolves, yet. As far as I know, it’s RDR2's only example of full male nudity. It’s a very interesting random encounter.
Whoa, wrong conclusion to draw. It’s one of the most captivating, enriching, rewarding stories in any medium I’ve ever experienced, let alone in video games. My takeaway from that claim (which seems unlikely, and entirely based on tracking trophy achievements) is that gamers, and I include myself here, are addicted to…
We get why it would work but its a long way for a short cut when you have a perfectly good scapegoat right in front of you who you are trying to get to leave the planet. He spends so much time trying to ensure Manhattan isn’t there to bork his plans up but never considers that he could be used as the threat too?
I’m really unsure of how to interpret this article. I’m all for a different perspective when critiquing a game. I’m not sure what my takeaway from your review is supposed to be. Spaldino made a fairly salient point and you kind of flippantly responded. Seems to me that your comment is saying to go elsewhere for more…
Why is race any part of this at all?
“...ego (& implicit white dude self-satisfaction) ” - stopped reading there. Your additional descriptor is literally just redefining ego in a heavily racial way. Its astounding how you, and so many others, feel the need to add race into aspects/characteristics that are universal to all people. Get your head out of…
What is this “white dude self-satisfaction”?
....sooo roughly the same amount of time as the original, got it :)
I love the concept of Legacy games, I’m less fond of altering the game pieces permanently so that it couldn’t be replayed through.
I haven’t played the legacy version but the original is so good.
was finally able to be completed thanks to a new update to the game
The KKK one is pretty funny too. Make sure you read the note you find on one of the guys. I don’t know if its in a random location, but they were in a little clearing of trees literally right outside the Rhodes camp for me one night
This.
Yeah, somebody else brought this up as well and it’s almost certainly the most seamless solution in terms of UI/UX but I also feel like it’s kinda avoiding the problem rather than fixing it. Offloading the menu to another device (which, for what it’s worth, is how Square solved the problem in Final Fantasy Crystal…
You can say this about NPCs from any open world game, though. I’m not sure why the NPCs in RDR2 would be any more off-putting than an Assassin’s Creed, GTA, Watch Dogs, Sleeping Dogs, etc. We’re still a long way off from Star Trek holodeck realism in character behavior
The game takes place 200 years before this. And do you know that Venice and Bohemia are pretty far apart in that day and age?
