And just to reiterate- Casual games bring in new customers, it doesn't convert old core gamers. So long as there are millions of core gamers like us there will be great core games. The core gamer market is growing in fact, just not as fast as casual. But casual brings in much less revenue due to lower costs.

Profits and revenue at game companies are fine. Gaming isnt' dying. Free to play makes up such a tiny fraction of the game market. As someone who adores his iPad- no, console games are not possible for it. If apple would take the stick out of it's ass and allow a wrap around standardized game pad that connects via 30 pin connector (fuck bluetooth, fuck it hard) then maybe it would be worth it for long trips.

I don't doubt that the arrests happened. I doubt that the suspects were high value. There is no evidence coming out that any of these people arrested were technical masterminds. Of course the FBI wants to pump up their involvement.

But consoles aren't custom PCs, whereas this is. They have different types of hardware. Their development is done in house. They are subsidized. They run custom OSes. They have certification programs for games. They have specific delivery streams for games.

yeah, no that's not a console. It's just standardized PC specs. Which are nice! But it won't lead to very much optimization unless they cut out windows or force people to have a fresh windows installation with only Steam and maybe Origin.
