Ah, the old “judge not, that ye not be judged”. Quit projecting, drama queen, maybe seeing Brokaw’s skeletons tumble out have you sweating and wishing for the days before #metoo, but I hope it only ends when every last asshole has been publicly shamed.

At some point a discussion needs to be had about whether continuing to cover Kanye’s opinions/tantrums/nervous breakdown is responsible. If one thinks that he is just being politically provocative then yes it is but if he’s in the middle of a manic phase or in the throes of some other mental illness or cognitive

I am so happy to hear this viewpoint in the open air. I also plan to die “naturally.” I’ve made choices in my life that may lead me to a fatal disease, but I made those choices and I will stand by the consequences. We spend far too much money and time trying to save people from their own decisions and prolong the life

I love Barbara Ehrenreich. And in particular I think your comment that:

You say Chyna should get a new REP? That’s the least of her problems!

I’m just going to leave this here.

Amen to this. If you scroll up through the comments, nearly all of the negative comments are based on people’s assumptions about the movie, rather than their thoughts after viewing the movie. Like, people did not see the movie and are crapping all over it. Many comments here such as, “what bothers me about the movie

I saw it today and I enjoyed it too. I was sitting there waiting for the super cringy moments and they just didn’t happen. It’s not perfect, but nobody seems to have this level of disdain for male-centric movies. For some reason they are allowed to be average but movies about women have to “represent” and if they

Proud Amy fan!!!

How can women ever get ahead when a woman like this makes a great film and you all just want to tear her down. Progress is never made without unity.

Hear, hear. There seems to be a special level of vitriol reserved for her and I am loving how she plows on regardless.

This isn’t a comment on the movie per se but I have an overwhelming impression that Amy Schumer can’t win no matter what she does. This article isn’t anything overtly bad but she sure does seem to be held to an impossible standard that we don’t impose on everyone.

Aidy Bryant is larger than Amy Schumer and doesn’t appear to have the same crippling low self esteem. This movie is about ONE type of woman who has low self esteem. If you see yourself in that the overall message is “give less fucks”. I don’t understand the criticism being thrown at this movie.

Was anyone complaining about “Shallow Hal” when it came out? if the movie is funny why can’t it be a funny movie. It seems to be the mob mentality again that we all have furiously hate something because we don’t agree with it or fully meet all social groups. It really sucks that someone cant go all out for content and

I enjoyed it. I felt it was worth the $11 and free medium drink I used my loyalty points on. WOULD SEE IT AGAIN

Is any other actress held to this standard? Go make a movie, make it REALLY funny, but be VERY careful to make it 100% about female empowerment. That sounds hard.

We can’t change society and the emphasis media places on “conventional” beauty overnight. But shit. If we could all be a little more accepting of our imperfect selves in the meantime, wouldn’t that be great? Huh? I liked this movie even though it’s imperfect. People like shitting on Amy but I hope she keeps trying.

I actually loved this movie. I think it was a really REAL portrayal of women and our relationship with the mirror and with our own confidence. Schumer’s physical comedy was totally on point and I laughed out loud a lot. Michelle Williams was so gloriously GOOP-y.

It’s a GD movie... They don’t all have to be comprehensive essays on the philosophical underpinnings of patriarchal society.

Am I missing something with the overt criticism of this movie? The large woman is arguably on the bottom of the social totem-pole. Do they not deserve a movie?
