I can’t speak for other states, but northeastern Illinois (Chicago area) relies on OBD-II for 95% of emissions testing, and only uses a sniff test on pre-OBD-II cars that still require testing. That’s only on gasoline powered cars though. There is no emissions testing of diesel cars that I know of, my parents have

This isn't great news, however considering they make billions of dollars building boring cars it doesn't surprise me one bit that they haven't committed to production yet.

Personally, I wouldn’t mind driving an old Honda or Saturn as a winter beater, even though I don’t really like either of those cars. You don't have to love a winter beater. The reason you’re disappointed with the selection of 2 door, 5-speed, Jeep Cherokee XJs with just the right amount of rocker panel rot is that

I don’t think that being an automotive enthusiast means you have to hate these shows. Yes, they’re staged, and they’re scripted, and sometimes they’re cheesy. I still find these shows entertaining, even though they aren't 100% about cars. As for the diversity of cars on the shows, do you really expect a show that’s

While you may be technically correct in stating that the Hummer has aluminum body panels and therefore it is incapable of rusting, aluminum does corrode, and painted aluminum body panels can start peeling in a similar fashion to how a paint peels on a rusted steel body car.

It isn’t any uglier than a normal Bentley. Though the concept car looks like it has 6.5” coaxial speakers in its bumper.

I’m sure it’s possible (at great expense) to buy a European spec tail light/turn signal lens housing with the cool LED strip and fit it on a North American car, but the point is that the cool looking one would be factory if it weren’t for federal regulations. This sounds like something that came about before the time

The 1996 Buick Roadmaster Wagon had an unusually high towing capacity for a wagon. It was something like 5000 lbs. And the engine was very similar to an LT1 Corvette engine.

I’m actually Canadian by birth but currently a U.S. citizen, and at the time I got my citizenship here the United States didn’t recognize dual citizenship. I haven’t considered moving back, but if there’s only a 15 year import ban in Canada that might be reason enough.

I would import a late model Toyota Hilux diesel. Or, if I had a bunch of spare Gran Turismo 3 credits and the 25 year rule was not an issue, then I’d go for a 1999 Nissan Skyline GTR R34.

I have to admit I thought full size SUV owners would be number one. Although ignorant exotic car owners is a good one I hadn’t thought about. About ten years ago, the owner of a local construction company wrecked his exotic sports car (I can’t remember if it was a Ferrari or Lamborghini) because he was showing off to

The biggest project I’ve ever taken on is installing a 3” lift kit, new springs and shocks, on my 2006 Toyota 4Runner. I had never done any suspension work before, most of what I learned was from watching how-to shows on TV. It ended up taking me 4 days to finish, even with the help of one of my buddies. I had to come

I wonder how towing will affect the range.

What about a Ford F-350 that's hauling around 4 spare axles in the bed. Seems reasonable.

Ford Sixaxle 4x4 doesn’t make any sense. That’s not even physically possible.

Quite a few years ago Volvo made a concept car that had transparent A pillars. It was made up of a bunch of triangular shaped windows in the pillar. It looked really cool but was one of those things that never made it to production.

I thought BMW already does this. Their engines have no oil dipstick and you (or the technician who does your oil change) check the oil level using a readout on the instrument cluster.

I sure hope it's a joke.

LX. When the indicator on the dash said it was at normal ride height, the rear suspension would be raised about 2-3 inches. Although I don’t think I’ve ever seen another one do the same thing so I suppose it could have just been a lemon.

My dad had one and the adjustable ride height air suspension was broken 85% of the time. He had to take it to the dealer to get the ride height sensors reset about once a month.
