I’m not advocating stealing things you can afford. I don’t pirate games and barely movies anymore. When I was a broke college kid and needed to do research on games or movies, I had to torrent them.

Well if they wouldn’t have bought it, then the owner didn’t lose any money. When I steal from a store, I’m taking a good which is worth value. When you torrent, you steal what would have been a purchase, but if you couldn’t/wouldn’t purchase it, then they didn’t lose money.
