If this is somewhat successful and develops beyond this point, I wonder if the next big milestone is to extend this capability to a new Chromecast? Playing on a laptop or PC is one thing, but playing on your tv in competition with the main consoles? That could be huge.

Disabling scripts isn’t particularly good advice, since so much of the web relies on it now. Better advice is to avoid sketchy websites in general, and to run a good antivirus. If you’re on Windows 8 and up, the included Windows Defender is great. In older versions of Windows it’s called Microsoft Security Essentials
