The thing is... They used to be a lot better. And it could be rose-tinted glasses, but Super Bowl commercials used to be funny and clever, until it became “a thing”, and people began watching the Super Bowl “for the commercials” in the same way someone reads Playboy “for the articles”, and then the quality of Super

This is the correct take.

There is no way the charges stick. The burden of proof is on the city as to whether those arrested were directly involved in the property damage. A decent lawyer would argue that since the journalists (or any of the innocent people swept up) were not viewed to directly cause the damage, and to what extent, they can’t

There’s no way these charges hold, right? Not just these, but all the mass roundup charges. How do you prove definitively who caused the damage? You can’t just prosecute someone based on the fact that they were close to where property was damaged if you have no proof they were directly responsible.

Poor choice of words on my part, but either way, when the President and his administration lie, that is newsworthy. I’d rather know they were trying to lie than not hear them at all and I’d be pretty worried if suddenly all our press stopped reporting on the President.

Its not reporting lies, its reporting the truth.

If the White House is lying, I want to know that. That’s newsworthy. And if that’s what the news reports when it reports on the White House, reporting their attempts to lie and manipulate the public, it is doing its constitutional duty as a free press.

What I thought was beautiful was how taken aback she was by Chuck Todd’s reaction. His gleeful dismissal of her attempt at that bullshit, showing her right in that moment how much she’d fucked up.

Because the alternative is worse: Shutting the press out of the White House. The best thing that the media can do is listen to these falsehoods as they’re being uttered, and rather than air them live, fact check them and report them later, thus exposing the lies. CNN did this and hopefully will continue to do this.

I’m hoping that’s a sign of things to come. Meanwhile if you go to Fox they somehow managed to report both Trump’s CIA speech and the press conference without ever reporting the fact that Trump’s team lied both times.

And Obama’s second inauguration. It was freezing as hell. In the teens. Every one of us stood there for hours.

I have a lot of questions, and yet a part of me doesn’t want any of the answers.

This. I’m tired of us dismissing the great men/women who champion our values because of their few and far between mistakes that they later regretted. Times change. People change. Views evolve. If we continue to judge our heroes by impossible standards, there aren’t going to be any heroes left. And we need people like

If I were him, that’s exactly what I’d be doing. And I’d be insulating myself into a very comfortable position so that I’m indispensable and ready to go the moment Trump walks out the door.

I don’t like Mike Pence, but one has to recognize his unique situation and how masterfully he’s taking advantage of it. Mike

I keep hoping the joke was a “Steve Harvey isn’t important enough to be recognizable” and not “all black people look alike”, but I just can’t be sure.

I’ll be honest, I didn’t know about John Lewis’s contribution to the Civil Rights Movement until after this whole fiasco. But that’s besides the point, a sensible politician would at least ASK someone or look the guy up before making an “official” (I use that word liberally) response. Moreover I would hope a decent

Except Mike Pence didn’t do that. What you just witnessed is a masterclass in political minpulation. He focuses almost entirely on John Lewis’s statements, and how he was disappointed and hopes he reconsiders, how John Lewis is one of his heroes. He has a one off about Trump because he has to. He’s the Vice President,

Not even to mention the fact that John Lewis’s district is thriving.

Too soon? Probably by definition and yet I love every one of these.

Yeah. Any book that’s published after 71 years of being publically banned is #1 on my reading list, I don’t care what it is... Morbid curiosity is going to win out.

For a while I kept a very simple notepad doc which listed the day of the week and time of every show I was keeping up with. Then I accidently deleted it. So I stopped watching like three shows at the time, which I now plan to catch up on when they’re done.

These days, unless a show is REALLY AMAZING, I file it under
