I wish they’d re-release it in IMAX 3D because, while it has its faults, watching and hearing it in that format is like having your eyes and ears massaged for a couple of hours.

Agreed. I foolishly clicked the link, read one line, clicked away in horror.

I had no idea new episodes had been showing up - you've just completely changed my evening plans.

Is it really a hot take to say "I don't like they used the same song in two trailers"? That's as tepid a take as it gets.

Christian Bale was fancasted before he got the role, though I’m sure it didn’t factor into him actually getting the role.

It wasn’t Oscar bait in the traditional way but it was probably an Oscar hopeful for the studio. This was just after Fargo - a similar film - got a lot of Oscar love.

This was a CinemaCon screening intended to wow exhibitors. The film's still four weeks out - there'll be dedicated critic screenings in a couple of weeks.

He also provided his voice for the choir of Jedis (or whatever it was) in Episode IX.

It was pushed back last November. It’s due out summer 2023.

I *wish* Eternals had felt more like Mystery Men.

And even when a studio drops the ball, it doesn’t mean it’s over. Remember when Pixar did Cars and there was talk that their golden era was over - only for them to come back with Ratatouille, WALL-E, Up and Toy Story 3 (in my view their best run of back to back films)? And the run they’re currently on is pretty great

This is an obituary that ends with “Here’s a slideshow of other famous people who died this year.” If you’re looking for something that honours the decreased with the respect they deserve, you're in the wrong place.

He’s very funny in A History of Violence.

That makes sense. I seem to remember Iron Man started filming without a finished script either and that turned out great (thanks mostly to RDJ's inprovs) so I can see them thinking it wouldn't be an issue here either.

Were the WGA on strike when Iron Man 2 was made? I’m not being snarky, it’s just the big strike from that era (that I know of) was 2007 into 2008 (ending in February 2008) - and Justin Theroux didn’t start writing the script until after the first film was released in May 2008.

There’s a pre-Bond TV movie called Detonator (aka Death Train) that you might enjoy.

It's not listed here but it is nominated for Cinematography.

“An irrelevant series that in the last decade produced a critically-acclaimed trilogy that took $1.7b at the box office. What a bunch of losers!”

Completely disagree - at least on Clueless. She’s great in that. The whole movie is centred around her and wouldn’t work if she didn’t have the chops and comic timing for it.

Yeah, the “Twenty years later people are still misunderstanding Fight Club” subheading is not only not what’s happening here but comes across a bit “I appreciate the Muppets on a deeper level”.
