I think calling WandaVision the first Marvel property to get any awards traction is doing a disservice to Black Panther's seven Oscar nominations (including Best Picture), three of which it won to add to its SAG win for the cast and the Grammy for its soundtrack.

Though I’m not sure what uber-miserable cut Tom watched. There’s definitely music in the end credits. It’s dramatic and somber (especially when the title comes up and dusts away) but it’s definitely there.

There’s so much I love about this film (Thor’s entrance is one, Cap’s is another and the interplay between Stark, Strange and Parker is fantastic) but one of my absolute favourite bits is that ending. The notion of Thanos being the protagonist makes the film really interesting and it’s highlighted there. Try listening

Part of the appeal of cinema is the shared experience the feeling of an audience all reacting to a story at the same time. And Endgame is a hell of an example of that.

They only got the rights for him when Disney bought Fox. With a MCU Fantastic 4 film on the way I imagine he's being saved for that.

“it will also be easy to see coming”

To be pedantic, 300 was released in March.

It’s so good! It’s been a while, definitely due a rewatch. But I like that you highlighted Sarsgaard - Christensen is indeed great but the surprise of his performance sometimes overshadows how good Sarsgaard is in his role. The energy between them during the unraveling of the story is incredible.

The piece on how Disney promoting a Captain America spin-off cartoon on the established Captain America Twitter account was racist.

What If... The Marvel Cinematic Universe was made up of commercial and critical failures?

Are you mad at me?

Marvel's doing one in 2021 thanks to Spider-Man.

Did they do two Top Cat films? I remember missing the first but watching Top Cat Begins - and it was dreadful. I'll concede I may not have been the target audience though.

That’s a crazy take. The movie is fantastic. Sure, TV to film adaptations don’t always work but in terms of animated efforts that’s exhibit A of taking what you have and justifiably expanding it to feature length (it’s also a genuinely great musical).

My favourite Harley is definitely the Animated Series original. Admittedly I haven’t seen the new animated series she has but no other interpretation (including Robbie, who I think is fantastic elsewhere) has captured the sweet, resourceful, naïve psychopathy of that version.

No, he’s right because I looked into those figures when replying earlier on. The (accurate) worldwide figures for Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back don’t seem to be available but the original domestic releases DID drop 32% between SW and ESB. And the same arguments about how the first was a fun crowd pleaser and

“... The Last Jedi which was soundly beaten domestically by Black Panther”

Maz being friends with someone as shady as that would make sense given the kind of establishment she was running in TFA.

Oh hey, it’s this boring dickhead from the last column.

TLJ on the other hand dropped its global box office versus TFA by 65%”
