I might be in the minority but I thought James Newton Howard did a great job on the King Kong soundtrack in a similar length of time. His action elements (the T-Rex fight and the Empire State finale) and the more emotional pieces of the score (the ice-skating scene) are both equally strong.

She didn't have the daughter to save the day (I don't remember her factoring into that part at all - she saw her simply because she had started to see the future. The Chinese phone call and the visions of her understanding the language saved the day). She had her because she was her daughter and she loved her.
