Counter-point - Erin was the one consistently great thing about The Office's later seasons, even if plenty of that came from the performance rather than the writing. And the finale could have gotten everything else wrong but as long as they'd kept Erin's reunion with her parents then it still would have been worth it.

I've been hoping for a good adaptation of High-Rise since I read it and the news that it was being tackled by Wheatley and Hiddleston was absolute gold to me. I couldn't imagine a better director tackling it and Hiddleston's a great choice for the lead. Hopefully it will turn out to be as special as the talent behind

Not to be all contrarian but I neither loved nor hated it. It was good and had some effective moments (and Smiley was incredible in his role) but parts of it fell flat for me and plenty of it just washed over me as a nice idea well done, but nothing more.

All three of those are legitimately great. Batman Returns especially, if only because it's outside of the current era and so stand apart a bit from the CGI battle-dominated 00s comic book films and has such a unique and bizarre tone to it. That one might be my favourite but I think Spider-Man 2 would take the crown as

Whether you created that or just shared it, it doesn't matter - thank you.

She does - hence her not being caught up with Homeland, hence this whole sorry state of affairs.

I saw it three times on releaseand that third time was just to re-watch it with a crowd. It was a great experience.

I love the ending. It has one of the best quick shifts from genuine pathos to laughs in recent memory.

It went on too long but it was worth it for the drunken detective-vision.

"Yeah, well I went down there the first day it opened right, and I did a couple of laps; I pulled over, the bloke that runs the thing comes over and said 'Oi, no professionals'. I took my helmet off, I said 'I'm not a professional'. He said 'You're not a professional?', I said 'No'. He said 'Well you should be. If I

For me one of the disappointments was that they didn't concentrate on the cases. Episode one dealt with wrapping up the cliffhanger and showing the aftermath, episode 2 seemed to be a mixture of a sitcom version of Sherlock and the setting up of episode 3's elements, and episode 3 was the big finale. There was no time

It seemed to be a love/hate relationship - embracing (or at least playing to) the Tumblr crowd that's grown up around the show with nods to them but then mocking it by personifying it as a chubby loser goth girl and a bunch of losers.

That's a brilliant observation on the onion rings, thanks for that. Maybe we should have a mandatory Sopranos article at least once a month so these sorts of posts can get an audience.

I read that and I respect the alternative take on it and find it interesting, but I don't buy into it. The timing is just too perfect for it not to be a gag.

The old man coming down the stairs, noticing what Janice is up to with the speeches, and retreating is one of the finest and most subtle sight gags The Sopranos ever did.

I'll never get tired of reading well-articulated thoughts on the finale so thank you for this. Even this far from its first airing it great to see new (to me at least) points being raised.

Absolutely, and it works as a perfect bookend with this one.

Thanks. I honestly can't rememberif it was something Inoticed on first viewing, at least not on the level I've appreciated it since- I saw Rose being a good influence on him but I think I saw it more as calming him after the trauma of the Time War rather than the deeper meaning of him lietrally becoming The Doctor

Did anyone pick up on this arc upon first viewing or is this something we're adding on knowing what's to come and what else we learn?

Not only that but the context of the quote - an analogy used to complain about how Jesus would go off performing miracles all over the land but should first concentrate on helping sort out the problems or his home town - fits in absolutely perfectly with how the 8th Doctor has been running all over the universe saving
