Riddick almost got away with it for the better part of its first half-hour, IIRC.

Indeed, I recently did a rewatch of both Alien & Predator franchises, and if there’s one thing that the Strause bros succeeded at with AvPR, it's the Predator. Too bad everything around him sucked, for the most part.
Hmm... I have a few issues with TNA/Impact being portrayed as “the company everyone loathed” (but then again, if the interwebs have taught me anything, it’s that expecting nuance in any way is pointless, everything is either awesome, or the worst ever, and it’s even worse in niche fandoms), but since the TNA of old is…
Man, i’m still kinda impressed by the fact that Regal managed to outswerve the swerviest swerve ever swerved by Vince Russo with his “hey, internet, I’m dead, mourn me, psych ! I’m not, i’m just starving attention”, but... f*** him.
Thing is, Noah’s joke was ultimately harmless... but it happened right at the time when italian newspapers, politicians, racists, far right, and so on, used the exact same “joke” to demean the team, deemed by them the “champions of the Third World”.
It was both my favorite ep of the season due to its quasi-backdoor pilot vibe (finally some humor, some superheroism, some action, some banter) and my least favorite, since you could remove it from the series, and everything else would still be the same.
Yeah, I’d argue she probably was the strongest actor on Smallville, alongside maybe Rosenbaum.
Nicki Clyne.
To be fair, though, LMS did noticeably tone the conservative rhetoric down after a while, to the point it was limited to one or two grouchy Tim Allen one-liners per episode.
Both of them, in fact.
Random thought : I just realized that Tony Stark recruting Peter Parker for his Civil War, and turning him into a living weapon, isn’t so different from what Thanos does with his “children” (minus the genocide & the millions of deaths that come with it all).
On Discovery ? He co-wrote a couple of episodes, including the pilot and the season finale, and he exec produces the show.
Bwahahahaha. Brilliant combo, Netflix.
I don’t know if it’s because I’ve rewatched Riddick not long ago, and the first part of the movie stuck with me, but I’m almost expecting the first 30-60 minutes of the movie (maybe after a short Guardians/Thor or Banner/Strange intro + the title screen) to be only about Thanos : his origin story, his quest, his…
Thing is, they already have an entire season shot and ready to air.
On a budget of less than $5 million, Get Out made $255 million at the U.S. box office last year.
Indeed. And he probably also has alternate Phase 4 & 5 plans scheduled (feat. the F4 & maybe some mutants), in case the Fox/Disney deal works as planned, so... an all-female movie at this point, just for the sake of having one and pleasing the bloggers is probably not on his agenda right now.
If you don’t like where those ST reviews have gone, stop reading, stop complaining & commenting and stop criticizing those who don’t enjoy the new Trek. Just my 2¢.
Honestly, I (along with many others, I guess) called the Enterprise popping up as a season ender as soon as the pilot aired. It’s just basic cheap fanservice 101, and judging by some reactions here and elsewhere, it’s enough to make this finale the greatest thing in the universe for some people.
IIRC, she did it to gain somewhat eternal life, and to get stronger/more powerful in the mirror dimension. And it’s bad because such dark powers end up corrupting the soul at some point, which kind of makes her flawed (& hypocritical in blaming Kaecilius for doing the same thing), when she should be the wisest being…
