C’mon, Klingons eat dead bodies, rape humans prisonners, torture them, are religious fanatics, betray each other, and have more “parts” than humans. That’s depth & development, right there. ^^

Well, the Klingons have been presented, so far, as scheming, honorless, difform, eat, torture & rape your ennemies dark-skinned savages & religious fanatics (with two d*cks, to better rape our women), so yeah, a Pakistani actor playing the embedded terrorist leader of those Klingons would fit right in.
Eh, it started off decently enough, in that trashy “McG tries to emulate Joseph Kahn’s Detention” kind of way, but the more it went on, the more it lost steam, and aside from a couple of kills, I just got bored with it.
It’s.... well, pretty ugly looking. And that’s pretty much all I’ve gotta say about the trailer.
And yet, not two Star Trek fans can seem to agree on what constitutes good Star Trek, so...
Makes sense. After all, part of the Elfman Batman theme was already used in Suicide Squad, during the Joker/Harley/Batman car chase (almost inaudible in the movie, clearly identifiable in the score).
As much as I love Next Gen, it sometimes seems the show also gave us entire generation(s) of fans who think Trek should only be about big, philosophical, intelligent concepts & issues, and not so much about action, fun, chemistry, relationships, silliness and other things like that.
Even more so when most of those positive reviews are in fact very mixed reviews for the pilot, and more positive ones for ep 2. Yeah, it ends up averaging to a positive in meta-review engines, but in fact, it’s not so cut and dry.
And yet, Kirk did a fair amount of gung-ho alien karate-chopping back in the day...
At this point, I’m just indifferent to it. And that’s despite the fact that, six months ago, I was so hyped about this upcoming show that I started a full Voyager rewatch, just so I could catch up on the few eps I had missed here and there, and start Discovery having watched everything the Trek franchise had produced…
“Unexpected” isn’t really the word I would have used.
“What Star Trek is supposed to be”... eh, if the whole nuTrek reboot and the fractured fanbase that ensued have proven anything, it’s that you could ask this exact question to a dozen self-proclaimed Trek fans, and you’d get a dozen different (and sometimes contradictory) answers, depending on the fan’s age,…
And neither is Wonder Woman, for that matter. A decent movie, yes. A good movie, maybe, depending on what one’s looking for in a superhero movie. A great movie ? Nah.
I don't know if it necessarily qualifies as "good", but http://www.imdb.com/title/t… has Steven Weber as a lead, so that's always a plus.
That's about my stance on it, too : I like her, I fear Chibnall, but at least that's one interesting thing to look forward to during his run as showrunner.
The main "heroic theme" from Doctor Strange's first two phrases are almost identical to the main theme from Star Trek
Yeah, as much as I resent Zimmer for his usual shortcuts, and the way his influence & methods have transformed the industry for the worst, Hans Zimmer, the man, seems to be a pretty likeable guy.
To be fair, by that point in the series' life, the budget just kept on being tighter and tighter as a condition of their renewal, so they probably didn't even have enough money for one more punch. ^^
Man, that will look AWESOME in IMAX. ^^
To be fair, that's also what's Once Upon A Time has been doing for a few years now (one big story arc for each half of the season), and that hasn't prevented the show for being an awful, awful mess… all the while still suffering from filler episodes & repetitive storylines. Granted, it's OUAT, so it's not necessarily…
