Older games always had a slow burn for me, with easier puzzles up top and the game’s most rewarding and challenging puzzles near the end or unlocked by doing specific things in game. Honestly, I played the DS games on emulator on my phone, so this cuts out the middle man and $16 is cheap compared to the price of a 3DS…

Yes and no. I really appreciate when an achievement for a game I like suggests to me that I missed something cool, then I go back and replay the game, eyes peeled for that cool thing, and I find a cool thing.

I think it’s part that, and part that games used to be more difficult because it was one way to pad the length. Mega Man games were hard because you needed to practice and develop strategies before winning.

I really loved Grow Home and I wanted to love Grow Up. They added a lot of interesting things to the world, I guess it just felt too iterative and not in a way that added much. Plants in the world now act as everything from B.U.D. launching cannons to catapults, but if you’re halfway decent at searching for upgrade…
