Kim and Jimmy were not looking to destroy Howard but just to make him miserable for being a jerk. They learned the hard way the lesson of “it’s all fun and games until someone really gets hurt.”

And Frank, just like Jerry, is such a nice guy! Unlike with Jerry, “Gene” uses that against him rather than inexplicably hating him.

I was waiting for Gene to go into the security office the day of the crime, only to find out the security guy had a heart attack from all the sugar

I believe he carved that when he got locked out while throwing out garbage a couple season ago.

Jim will always be a Jerry, even as a mall cop, he jerryed up security for sure. 

The head of mall security isn’t as depressed as Gene because he gets to go home to Christie Brinkley.

I only assumed that after she drove off without him!

It really was the way Kim did it, too— superficially reassuring Cheryl that Kim is probably wrong and that Cheryl would have known better than she did, knowing full well Howard mentioned his marriage was falling apart.

Jimmy lied but did it with a soft touch and did it in a way that comforted Howard’s widow. Kim just dug the knife in. That’s pretty much what their relationship has been like for the past season or two with Kim being the cold blooded and Jimmy still having a bit of a conscience about things

I think that was the moment that broke her.  It was unnecessarily cruel and she realized it after the fact.
