A lot of them are!

You hope Marvel pairs him with an experienced DoP? LOL, look at the filmography of Seamus McGarvey.

the fact that Nolan objected to Superman breaking Zod's neck told me exactly where the blame for what was wrong with that movie belonged. If Nolan was more hands on and vetoed that decision...

False. The Dark Knight trilogy provided me with oodles of joy. OODLES. And I read and love a crapload of zany, joyous comics, in and out of the superhero genre.

Dude, I'm not excited. Or angry. Especially not with you. It's the comments system that's a headache...you're not even the only person in the thread that asked after the answer had been given, that's my point!

You have a point, part of the whole "it looks like Power Rangers" thing is saying "it looks silly/childish". I just don't know that translates to kids feeling like they're actively being marketed towards. Not that kids sit in audience thinking "this is actively being marketed towards me!" but you know what I mean.

Don't get me wrong, I'd be psyched for it as a kid, but not a lot of PARENTS are going to look at this and think of it as an option over Despicable Me 2 or whatever. Or at least, I wouldn't have thought so. I'm not a parent, I defer to you!

The whole rainy night-time thing had me worried too, yeah. I was sold on:

It was too meandering and uneventful as is...it worked with LotR because there was conflict and resolution in each instalment.

Don't joke about things like that man. My George Lucas has George Lucas Disease.

I'd say they need to showcase the characters...we get there are monsters, robots and explosions. The thing that got me excited was the new 2min TV spot, where you saw the little girl fearing for her life and half the trailer was cut to pilots hyperventilating in fear. THAT was awesome.

Ironically, a big budget Western Power Rangers reboot movie would make bundles of cash.

I thought you were talking original Godzilla and original King Kong for a minute. I thought they did okay, Transformers and Cloverfield were hits.

This doesn't look too much like a kiddie movie though...

I think Rinko Kikuchi's character could be awesome, and the most emotionally engaging, judging from what we know so far.

They're distinctive, but they DO look a lot more like giant toys than the robots from a franchise that is essentially about giant toys.

Now playing

Have you seen the recent 2min extended TV spot or either of the BTS featurettes? I felt similarly to you, I was excited because it was GDT, but it didn't look as great as I hoped. Those two things swayed me, I'm pumped.

Some are comparing “Pacific Rim” to to Saban’s “Power Rangers” kids franchise

You caught him red-handed! Cultural bias! What a hypocrite! Pat yourself on the back for me!

he's not disowning the movie! People are really knee-jerking to this..
